Evaluation

This close up project I think has gone really well shows most of my best work. In the project I did 10 shoots and 4/5 shoots for my 15hr exam and I am happy with the development of the theme close up. I think some shoots link more to the theme, close up, than others because I wanted to explore as many options as possible and I believe I have done this. I think looking at the artists was very productive because they gave me ideas and inspired me to look at there fields of work in more detail.

I think the most successful thing in my project is the 15hr exam because I think the portrait images are really interesting and different and all the images relate somehow. For this exam I did 4/5 shoots and I combined them together. For example: I did a shoot of flowers and then a portrait shoot which then I overlap the flower image over the top of the portrait image to create a new image. I think because I planned these 5 shoots and planned my time the images I created benefited from this. The image below is my favourite image from my 15hr exam and properly from this unit. I really like the lighting in this image and that the only colour comes from the flowers overlapped on her face. I like the expression on her face and the angle of her face and body, overall I really like this image.

I think a shoot that could have been improved if I did the shoot again is the texture shoot I did at the beginning. I do like the images I got but I think it would benefit from having some more different textures and maybe a multiple imagery piece. Another shoot that I think would benefit by redoing the shoot would be shoot 6 where I took pictures of candles. I think the images I got were ok but I wanted to photography fire and I think the colour of the wax distracted from what I actually wanted to photography. The images below are from the two shoots that I think could be improved the most.

Throughout my ten shoots I did many computer experiments and these I tested out different ideas that I had. I did many in my 15hr exam which I think without the exam wouldn't be very good. I think my favourite computer experiment from the ten shoots would be the inverted flower because I think its interesting and it happened by accident and from the exam the image of the eye with a filter over the top because its something I have never used before and I like the affect.

Overall I am really happy with this project because I think it shows my best work and I think all the shoots link to the theme well. I believe all the shoots show development and link well.
