1. The image to the right was an image I took and edited. This image was part of a test shoot I did for my 15hr exam and it was inspired my David Bailey. The image is in Black and white and was taken as a side view of her face. The side view shows the outline of her face and the light parts of her face. I really wanted to show the contrast of the black and white, which was created by the harsh lighting. I really like the shapes the shadow create around the neck area and I think it makes the image more interesting to look at. There is no real expression on her face and this I think could have made the image have more of a meaning.
The image to the left is an image by David Bailey. This is one of his most famous piece of work. The image has a very low saturation so its nearly black and white looking. The image has harsh shadows and the lighter parts of the face are a similar colour to the background. I really like the this about the image and this is what inspired me to do a shoot like this in my 15hr exam. The image has a subtle expression to her face which makes the image more meaningful.
The similarities of these two images are: they both have harsh shadows, the face is at a side profile and is a portrait and the background is a similar colour to the lighter parts of the face. I wanted the images to look similar because I wanted to put a coloured flower over the top of the face for my exam work and also I really like the images by David Bailey so I wanted t try and create some black and white images that were similar. The differences are that the image by David Bailey has a low saturation however my one is totally black and white. Also the image by David Bailey shows more of an expression on her face, whereas mine doesn't really show an expression on her face. The shadows in the image I took are much harsher than the image by David Bailey but there still harsher the most portrait images.
2. The image on the right I took and edited because I wanted to show the contrast of spring and autumn. I used selective colour to in-hanse the contrast of the green to the background. I desaturated the background slightly to create this image. The leaves and branch come from the top right image down to the left side at the bottom. I think this image shows spring well because it shows the new life, represented by the bright green and the dark grey background contrast against this.
This image I found on google images and I picked it because it has some similarities to the image I took and also some differences. This image has the main colour of yellow. The leaves are the in focus and the background is blurred out. The use of depth of field really makes the main subject, the leaves, stand out from the background. The leaves in the image are hanging downwards and the branch comes from the top left side of the image to the top right.
The similarities of these image are: They both have the theme of spring, they both have a clear colour scheme, they both show small leaves and the arrangement of the compositions are similar. Also in both of the images depth of field is used to make the main subject stand out. The differences of these images are that the main colour of the leaves are different, the image I took is green and the other is yellow. The leaves on the image I took are pointing upwards and the other image is pointing down. The feel to the image I took is very unwelcoming to spring however the other image from google images is the opposite, welcoming.
3. This image I took for my final shoot of Unit 4. It is of a flower underwater which was tied down with a stone. I used selective colour to desaturate everything around the flower to make the colour stand out but I didn't desaturate the background colour completely because I wanted it to look realistic. The jug is on a slant because I took it at an angle and I think it makes the composition more interesting.

This image i found on google images and I choose it because the images have some similarities but also some differences. The image is a close up of the head of the flower floating on the surface of the water and it shows the stems beneath and the flowers on top. The flowers are red and the stems are green as-well as the water. The water line is just above the centre of the image and this splits up the different parts of the image.
The similarities of these two image are: they both shows water and flowers and they both have red flowers. From looking at both of the images there are some clear similarities but there are more differences that I can see. The differences is that the image from google images is more close up then the image I took. The image from google has red and green as the main colours whereas I only have one main colour, red. The image I took, I took at an angle and the other image was not.
4. This image I took and edit, I took it in the forest on a dog walk. I edited the image so it was in black and white because I felt the original colours where not bold enough and I felt black and white would make the image look more meaningful. The use of the depth of field I think really makes the image and creates depth in the image. I think the contrast of the tone in the black and white is good and I think it works as an image.

This image was taken by Bev Hollis and shows a dog looking up at the camera. The image is in colour and around the edge of the image has a slight tint of black to frame the dogs face. The use of the depth of field leads the viewers eyes to the dogs eyes because there in focus and the others are not. The nose is the closest to the camera which is blurry and then the furthest part away, the dogs body, is also blurry. This creates depth in the image and makes it more interesting to look at.
The similarities in the two images above are: they both include a dog, the use of depth of field and the longing expressions on the dogs faces. These similarities are what makes the images more interesting to look at, in my opinion. The differences in these images are that the image I took is in black and white and the other that Bev Hollis took isn't. The depth of field in these images are different because the depth of field in my image is more subtle than the other image but both go from out of focus to focus to out of focus. The dog is looking at the camera in Bev Hollis's image biut mine the dog is looking away and both I think work.
5. This image I created for one of my final pieces for the 15hr exam. This imageI am really happy with. I created this image by overlaying a picture of a flower over the top of a portrait image. The light in this image is coming from the right the image. I really like the contrast of the colour to the black and white of the image. I think the petals of the flowers lay well on the curves of her ace and neck.

This image is from Dan Mountford and it shows a portrait image with another image overlaid on the top of this image. The image of the wave breaking fits really well on the face. The water replaces her hair and it goes over he eye. The image has low saturation however the image has a slight tint of brown and this makes it old looking. The image is in the composition of a square and this really suits the subject.
The similarities in the two images above are: they are both of a girl, they both include two images, both have a plain background and both of there faces are at a slant. These similarities are what make these image different to normal portrait images. The differences are that in the image I created there is a colour and the image by Dan Mountford hasn't. The image I created makes it look like the flower is part of her and Dan Mountford makes it look like the water is her her.
